Guidelines & Policies

All policies that apply to The Kennebec Land Trust fee lands apply to the Baldwin Hill Cemetery grounds and the surrounding Baldwin Hill Conservation Area.

The following rules also apply:

  • Apart from service dogs as stated in Maine law, dogs are not allowed on cemetery grounds or in the surrounding Baldwin Hill Conservation Area.

  • Hunting is not allowed on cemetery grounds or in the surrounding Baldwin Hill Conservation Area.

  • Off-road vehicles are not allowed within the cemetery or surrounding Conservation Area, aside from those used to assist with mobility impairments.

  • Bikes may be used on the gravel access road, but are not allowed within the cemetery.

  • No camping and no fires within the Cemetery or surrounding Conservation Area.


Other Cemetery Guidelines.

  • Unauthorized burial of any object, organic or otherwise, is strictly prohibited. Burial of pets is prohibited.

  • Volunteers cannot perform maintenance or any other task at Baldwin Hill Cemetery unless they have been given permission by the operations managers. An exception is “common courtesy” tasks like picking up trash. Please notify the operations managers of any issues in the cemetery.

  • Items can be added to or removed from burial sites only in accordance with the Decorations & Adornments section, and only by loved ones of the deceased.

  • No tampering with memorial stones or any other objects in the Cemetery is permitted without express permission from the operations managers.
